Drasnice, a small coastal town located about ten kilometers south of Makarska, on the way to Dubrovnik. Today it numbers just over three hundred inhabitants, and by the end of the nineteenth century, this place numbered over 900 people.
The place itself is first mentioned in Turkish documents dating from the late 15th century. But life in the Drasnica area has been booming since ancient times. Remains of material culture in the Drasnica area date backover 8,000 yearsback to history.
What makes Drasnice specific are the exquisitely preserved stonehouses of the Podbiokovobelt, which lived until the great earthquake of 1962. In the same year, the Adriatic Highway began to be built, which caused the population to move to the coast. It also strengthens tourism, so life simply moved to the coast.
Drasnice is a small local Pompeii, because in the sub-Biokovo belt one can feel the spirit of the time that has been dominant on this soil for centuries. The old stonehouses are mentioned here, in front of some there are ancient tools for processing olives - turn, and inside each house there is still an authentic interior.
